Desperate for that lovely summer glow? Wanna fake it till you make it? Read our tips and tricks for darker complexions below and discover how to get your skin looking positively radiant using just makeup. No fake tan needed!
Glowing Bronzed Skin
To easiest and most important step to a summer glow for darker complexions is by adding warmth to your complexion. Warm up the cheeks with Bronze in Sunkiss using the rounded end of the Contour/Highlight Brush to mix the two shades together. When deciding on your bronzer shade, remember that it should be a fewer shades deeper than your natural complexion. Apply Bronze just above where you would normally contour your cheekbones and just below where you would apply blush. For your skin to look naturally sunkissed, blend the bronzer out well. For consistency, you can also softly apply it across your hairline and along your jawline too.
When moving on to blush, keep the look warm with a neutral shade such as the Cream Blush in Fig. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks with the Blush Brush. Remember to lightly blend it with your bronzer for a seamless finish. (Don’t worry if you use too much colour, a cream formula is very forgiving, so just blend it out!)
Now, for our favourite bit – the highlight. For that added touch of luminosity for a summer glow, highlight with a warm shade such as the gold shade from Shimmer Brick in Luster using the flat, tapered side of the Contour/Highlight Brush. For subtle shimmer, only apply to the tops of your cheekbones. But for those who prefer a more intense highlight, you can also apply product down the centre of your nose, forehead, chin and cupid’s bow.
Easy Copper Eye Makeup
For your eye makeup, a subtle coppery smokey is the perfect addition to your bronzed skin. Using Eye Shadow Trio in Copper Sheen, blend the bronze and gold shades together for a muted copper shadow and apply to the lid with the Eye Definer Brush. Then soften the edges and blend the shadows into your crease with an Eye Blender Brush. If you want a touch more drama to your eyes, bring the shadows down to your lower lashline with a Crease Brush.
Finish off the eyes with a few sweeps of Lash Boosting Mascara on the upper and lower lashes.
Rose Gold Lips
For the final touch, pick a pinky-nude shade that’s slightly deeper than your actual lip colour like the Suede Matte Crayon in Monogram. For added shimmer, and to really tie up your glowing summer skin look, layer Gloss in Coconut over the top. This combination of pink with a peachy-gold shimmer gloss creates a stunning rose gold lip.
Who knew it could be so easy to get that summer glow year-round! (With no need for the smelly and messy fake tan).
