Determine your skin type

Gently cleanse twice a day
Cleansing is fundamental to regulating oil production. But stick to washing your face twice a day. Any more and you could irritate your skin and kick it into overdrive; causing it to overcompensate with excess oil to protect the skin.
Use a good toner
An alcohol-based toner is likely to be too harsh as it can completely strip your skin of its natural oils and thus be too drying.
